Bella Shmurda, born Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi on January 27, 1996, in Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria, is a well known Nigerian singer and songwriter. He gained fame in 2019 with his debut single “Vision 2020” and its remix featuring Olamide. As a result, One World Global Records sought legal action and demanded ₦200 million in damages.

In December 2022, Bella Shmurda paid ₦20 million to end his contract with One World Global Records early. He expressed dissatisfaction with the contract terms, citing issues like unfair revenue sharing and lack of support. This financial decision showed his commitment to gaining artistic independence and control over his career.

Establishment of Dangbana Republik

After leaving One World Global Records, Bella Shmurda launched his own record label, Dangbana Republic. More than just a music platform, this label represents a creative community dedicated to music and humanitarian efforts in Lagos. Under this label, Bella Shmurda released several successful projects, including his debut album “Hypertension” in 2022.
