February 7th, 2025

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been honored with the Deacon Jones Sack Leader Award for the 2024 NFL season, recognizing his league-leading 17.5 sacks.

Hendrickson’s standout season was highlighted by several remarkable performances. In Week 9, he achieved a career-high four sacks against the Las Vegas Raiders, propelling him to the top of the NFL sack leaderboard at that time. His consistent excellence continued through the season, culminating in a dominant Week 18 display against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he recorded 3.5 sacks and earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

This accolade marks the first time in his career that Hendrickson has led the league in sacks. Notably, he is the first Bengals player to achieve this feat since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

The Deacon Jones Sack Leader Award, named in honor of the legendary defensive end Deacon Jones, is presented annually to the NFL player with the most sacks in a season. Hendrickson’s achievement underscores his pivotal role in the Bengals’ defense and cements his status as one of the premier pass rushers in the league.
