Lil Wayne Collaborates with U2’s Bono for ‘Tha Carter VI’

Lil Wayne has finally released Tha Carter VI, and the album’s tracklist includes a surprising feature: U2’s lead singer, Bono.

The duo collaborate on the powerful anthem “The Days,” which was first introduced during an NBA Finals promo.

On the song, Wayne reflects on his veteran status in hip hop, rapping: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has hit day.”

Meanwhile, Bono—who has also worked with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West—sings: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”

Tha Carter VI marks Wayne’s first solo album in five years and the first installment in his Tha Carter series since 2018.

The 19-track project includes a diverse lineup of guest artists like 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Machine Gun Kelly, and Big Sean.

It also features a mix of more unconventional collaborators, such as opera singer Andrea Bocelli, country artist Jelly Roll, and Fugees legend Wyclef Jean.

Although fans were hoping for a reunion with Drake and Nicki Minaj, no track featuring the Young Money trio appears on the album.

Weezy recently introduced a fresh lineup of Young Money artists as he aims to usher the label into a new, contemporary phase.

On a recent episode of his Young Money radio show on Apple Music, Wayne introduced and reintroduced his new roster of artists, which includes Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Poppy, and Lucifena.

A group of longtime label members—Lil Twist, Cory Gunz, and Euro—also continue to be part of the iconic label that previously housed stars like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, DJ Khaled, and Kidd Kidd.

None of the current Young Money artists appear on Tha Carter VI.

To celebrate the album’s release, Wayne will perform his first-ever headline solo concert at Madison Square Garden in New York tonight (June 6) before embarking on a nationwide tour later this year.
