Kendrick Lamar Sets New All-Time Record on Hip Hop Charts

Kendrick Lamar has officially shattered the all-time record for the most weeks a song has spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Chart.

His hit collaboration with SZA, “Luther”, has now held the top spot for 23 weeks, surpassing his previous record set by “Not Like Us.”

Between Kendrick and SZA, the duo now dominates the all-time top three positions, with SZA’s “Kill Bill” spending 21 weeks at No. 1 across 2022 and 2023.

Although Kendrick has already made history, “Luther” is expected to hold onto the No. 1 position for several more weeks.

The track recently ended its 13-week reign at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, marking a remarkable run.

Lamar has continued to break records throughout the past year. A standout performance with SZA on their Grand National Tour in Seattle brought in $14.8 million in revenue, making Kendrick the first rapper to ever cross the $14 million threshold from a single concert.

The show was also the most attended of the tour so far, drawing nearly 61,000 fans.

Kendrick surpassed his own record following a performance at AT\&T Stadium in Dallas, which generated an impressive \$11.822 million in just one night.

This milestone made Lamar the highest-grossing Black male artist in history for a single live show.

The previous record-holder was The Weeknd, who earned \$9.8 million during his 2022 concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Kendrick Lamar initially broke the record for the highest-grossing rap concert in history on the opening night of the Grand National Tour.

Touring Data reported that the kickoff show in Minneapolis brought in over $9.1 million, drawing more than 47,000 attendees, with an average ticket price of $192.70.

Beyond his live performance achievements, Lamar has also been dismantling long-standing chart records over the past year.

His track “Not Like Us” recently made history as the first rap song ever to remain on the Billboard Hot 100 for a full year.

The hit diss track remained on the chart for an impressive 52 weeks before finally dropping off just last month.
