Social media personality Blessing CEO has admitted that her earlier claim of having stage 4 breast cancer was based on a misunderstanding, not a confirmed medical diagnosis, after widespread controversy and online scrutiny.

In an interview on the online show Young and Healthy Bros, she clarified that tests showed a cancerous lump but stressed she does not have stage 4 cancer and has not begun chemotherapy. She said the error stemmed from “miscommunication” and that further tests are needed to determine the cancer’s actual stage.

The influencer’s initial announcement, which included a tearful video and appeals for donations for treatment, prompted an outpouring of public support and financial contributions—reportedly amounting to around ₦13 million. However, doubts quickly arose as Nigerians and critics questioned the authenticity of her claims and the lack of verified medical documentation.

Amid mounting backlash, Blessing CEO deactivated her Instagram account. Public figures and members of the public have called for accountability, with some demanding refunds of donations and legal action, arguing that soliciting financial support under false pretences is exploitative and could constitute fraud.

The situation has reignited debate about online fundraising ethics and the need for transparency when public figures seek financial help for medical or personal challenges.
