Nigerian award winning filmmaker and actress Shan George has shared a candid reflection on the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, drawing comparisons between his tenure as Governor of Lagos and his current performance as Nigeria’s leader.

In a personal statement gathered by 360nobs, she recalled Tinubu’s time as Lagos State governor, describing it as a period of notable transformation despite political tensions with then President Olusegun Obasanjo. She highlighted key developments during that era, including infrastructure expansion, the establishment of LASTMA, and efforts to restore order across the state.

According to her, these achievements formed the basis upon which many Nigerians assessed Tinubu’s capacity for national leadership. However, she expressed concern that his current performance as president does not reflect the same level of dynamism and effectiveness.

George suggested that age may be a contributing factor, noting that while Tinubu has fulfilled his long-standing ambition of becoming president, it may be appropriate for him to consider stepping aside. She argued that leaving office voluntarily could be a more honourable course of action.

She also criticised close associates of the president, alleging that their personal interests may prevent them from offering honest advice regarding his continued stay in office.

The actress clarified that she is not affiliated with any political party and does not currently support any presidential candidate, describing her remarks as those of a concerned citizen expressing her views on national leadership.
